Once trenching was completed, we prepared the system from the ground up:

• Excess soil was removed

• Landscape fabric was installed along the trench base to prevent root intrusion

• Clean drainage stone was placed to promote water flow

• Piping was properly aligned to ensure consistent discharge

This system allows water to disperse naturally into the surrounding soil, reducing surface pooling and protecting the asphalt surface from premature deterioration.

Unexpected Demolition During Excavation

During excavation for the dry well installation, our team uncovered remnants of a previously buried structure that showed signs of fire damage. The planned dry well location sat directly above the footprint of the former building.

As we continued digging, we exposed foundation debris and a concrete basement slab beneath the surface. Because dry wells rely on water infiltration into the soil below, the concrete slab would have prevented proper drainage and compromised the system’s effectiveness.

To correct the issue, we used a jackhammer to break apart and remove the concrete slab. All demolition debris was hauled away, leaving a clean and stable base for the dry well system.

Built for Long-Term Performance

Once the site was fully cleared, we completed the dry well installation according to plan specifications. The result is a properly functioning underground drainage system designed to support long-term performance beneath the new asphalt parking lot.
